Sensor Kinetics monitors and measures sensor data on iOS mobile devices

HOUSTON - November 21, 2012 - INNOVENTIONS, Inc. has released the Sensor Kinetics app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod. It is an advanced viewer and monitor for all of the standard electronic sensors found in iOS devices. Created by Dr. David Y. Feinstein, one of the pioneers in the use of accelerometers and gyroscopes within modern smartphones, this free app gives users a complete "behind-the-scenes" look at the total dynamics of all the available sensors. The app utilizes graphical indicators which demonstrate the activity of the complex kinetic sensors within the iOS platform. It follows up on the release of the Sensor Kinetics app for Android released last summer.

Sensor Kinetics allows the user to test all of the sensors on their iPhone or iPad. For example, it quickly determines if your iPhone has a gyroscope, how fast it's operating and how accurately it can measure the rotation angles. For students, it demonstrates the physics of gravity, acceleration, rotation, magnetism and other forces as they are measured by the iPhone. The detailed help files list numerous experiments. For app developers, Sensor Kinetics provides detailed behavior of the sensors they use in their apps.

The main screen lists all of the iPhone's or iPad's sensors in detail, providing measurements, rates and graphical representations. Users can change the update rates or activate/deactivate specific sensors. Each sensor is attached to a sophisticated chart viewer that displays detailed dynamic charts for the raw data. Accelerometer data can be processed to calculate rotation angles, allowing the user to demonstrate the lower angular range and accuracy of the accelerometer compared to the gyroscope sensor.

The free Sensor Kinetics app is available now from iTunes.
